LAWIN shortlisted for The Lawyer Awards 2009
LAWIN, as the only legal presence from the Baltic region, made it to the shortlist for „Law Firm of the Year: Scandinavia and the Baltic States“ in The Lawyer magazine’s European Awards 2009. The main criteria for nomination were consistent excellence in services provided, remarkable market share in the region, clear strategic vision and strong financial performance and growth. Other leading law firms that were nominated in the category are Plesner from Denmark, Mannheimer Swartling from Sweden and Borenius & Kemppinen from Finland.
The Lawyer is a weekly British magazine for commercial lawyers and corporate directors, first published in 1981. The Lawyer Awards have been the industry’s benchmark of quality for more than a decade. The Lawyer European Awards recognise the outstanding work performed across continental Europe. In 2009 more than 100 entries were submitted by law firms across 47 jurisdictions in Europe ranging from well-established Western Europe markets to emerging nations in the East and South. The combination of a senior advisory judging panel and The Lawyer’s own research has made these Awards the most comprehensive and incisive reflection of the commercial legal market. The Lawyer’s editorial team conducted a huge research process, interviewing hundreds of lawyers and their clients to affirm the nominations. To supplement this, a judging panel that includes general counsels at multinational FTSE 100 companies and managing partners at UK law firms gave their informed views on all the submissions. LAWIN is the leading and largest legal services provider in the Baltics. Each of the LAWIN offices has more than 17 years of experience in delivering expert advice and exceptional services to major domestic and multinational companies, international finance and public institutions. The team of more than 130 lawyers has advised the largest and most complex cross-border finance, M&A, investment, restructuring, equity-linked, real estate and other projects in the Baltic region demanding international experience, professional approach and resources. LAWIN firms are exclusive members in the Baltics of Lex Mundi – the world’s leading association of independent law firms, and World Services Group – the global network of leading professional services companies. The firm’s success in providing fully integrated and most innovative legal solutions that result in fast and effective execution of high-profile transactions has been recognised by both the clients, cooperation partners and the wider international legal community. IFLR (International Financial Law Review) award “Baltic Law Firm of the Year 2008” and Who’s Who Legal award “Law Firm of the Year 2009” for Latvia and Lithuania are just some of the recent recognitions. LAWIN’s achievements and its role in the Baltic legal market are also recognised by consistent top-rankings by the most prestigious international legal directories: Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Legal 500 EMEA, IFLR 1000.
