“The Lawyer” recognised LAWIN as the law firm of the year in the Baltic States and Scandinavia

The law offices of LAWIN have received the “The Lawyer” European award “The Law Firm of the Year: Scandinavia & The Baltic States”. This world-renowned award is granted to LAWIN – the largest provider of legal services in the Baltic States – for its successful participation in the major regional transactions last year.

Among many other transactions where LAWIN professionals were involved, was advising Teo and Telia Sonera in Lithuania, rendering legal services to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) regarding acquisition of the strategic stake in “Parex bank” in Latvia and issuance of the subordinated loan, as well as advising the City Government of Tallinn on the largest Public Private Partnership (PPP) project in Estonia – renovation of public schools.

The awards of the weekly magazine “The Lawyer” in the United Kingdom have been the industry's benchmark of quality for more than a decade. This year it was the first time when “The Lawyer” decided to give European awards also for the best law firms in the continental Europe. A panel of expert judges reviewed submissions looking for evidence of strong local identity and market share, and entries were judged on the following criteria: strategic vision, strong partnership ethos, strong financial performance and growth, consistent excellence in their chosen sectors, and excellent talent management. The law firms from 47 countries participated in the event. The winners were announced on November 5 in Barcelona (www.thelawyer.com).
